Volunteer at the Denver Witches Ball!
Updated for 2026!
It takes a team of dedicated individuals to make an event like the Denver Witches’ Ball happen. The leadership team for Covenant of the River and some dedicated volunteers have been working to build another great event celebrating Samhain and the Denver Pagan community. If you have the energy and commitment, we’d love to invite you to volunteer with us the night of the Ball! We offer a free ticket in compensation to everyone who works about 3 1/2 hours. If you want to support this community event and save some money, please find a volunteer position that suits your skillset. General descriptions for each volunteer position are given below. Everything from ticket taking to watching the doors to the information table and more.
Guest Services are folx who can act like roving information booths and help keep the building in order. Please wear sensible shoes and stay hydrated.
The Cauldron (Info Booth and more) volunteers have a stationary and busy job. Answering guest questions, holding space for folx and checking volunteers all happen at your table.
Switcharoo Crew needs to be in the Ritual Room by 11pm to start transforming it into ritual space. Please be sober and quick on your feet.
Setup and tear down are streamlined with our Marriott partnership: no tables or trashcans for our crew to move. More creative types will want to be on setup to help with decorations and signage. Folx who plan to be around late in the night can help pack things up and load the truck.
Ticket Booth volunteers check in guests, sell taste tickets and help answer questions. This is a team of people most of the night. Must be comfortable handling cash, credit cards and guest identification.
Greeter will help direct traffic at the ticket booth and welcome guests while they are waiting.
Door guards check for wristbands, direct guests to appropriate doors as necessary and watch for external troubles. Please dress for the weather: these are outdoor positions.
Ancestor Altar Stewards will oversee the altar, keeping walk ways and access clear while assisting folx in placing their tokens of appreciation or offerings.
Volunteers at the Denver Witches’ Ball are expected to be cordial, sober and ask for help when they need it. Shifts are 3-4 hours from 10am on Saturday to 2am Sunday. Volunteers must check in at the Information Booth before their shift. When your shift is over, please remove your name tag and sign out with the volunteers at the Information Booth. Any person who does not show up for the volunteer shift that they signed up for will not be able to volunteer next year. Volunteers will receive a short survey about your experience: please take a few minutes and let us know how your evening and volunteer shift went. There will be a Zoom meeting October 11th at 11 am for all volunteers, attendance encouraged but not required. An email with the link and expectations will go out the week before the meeting.
